The Story Behind HEXAFRESH
The devastating European heatwaves of 2019 highlighted a growing global challenge. Record-breaking temperatures and thousands of heat-related deaths demonstrated that cooling is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.
Yet millions of European households, particularly those living in apartments and older buildings, still lack access to efficient cooling. Installing traditional split air-conditioning systems is often expensive, technically challenging, or restricted by building regulations.
Motivated by this challenge, HEXAFRESH was born through the Cleanergy Program at Berytech, where we designed and built our first working prototype of an ultra-compact, energy-efficient portable air conditioner. Our vision was simple: make sustainable cooling accessible while significantly reducing energy consumption.
Company Story
HEXAFRESH's journey began in Lebanon, where the founding team joined the Cleanergy Innovation Programme at Berytech to develop a new approach to portable cooling—one that would be smaller, quieter, and significantly more energy-efficient than the appliances already on the market.
Working within Berytech's innovation ecosystem, the team built and tested its first functional prototype, validated the underlying engineering, and carried out early market research and customer interviews to confirm that the problem it had identified—the lack of practical, affordable cooling for homes without space or permission for fixed air conditioning—was real and growing.
Recognising that Europe offered both the regulatory framework and the market scale needed to commercialise the technology, the founders relocated the Company's operations to France, incorporating HEXAFRESH SAS to accelerate product development and commercial expansion.
This move placed the Company inside one of the world's most demanding regulatory environments for consumer electrical appliances—a deliberate choice that has since become a competitive advantage, as HEXAFRESH's CE- and RoHS-certified products can be sold confidently across the European Union.
The years that followed were dedicated to industrialisation: optimising the industrial design, developing a repeatable manufacturing process, establishing a resilient supply chain, and securing the certifications required to sell in Europe.
This disciplined, unglamorous work—the kind that determines whether a hardware company survives its first years—transformed a promising prototype into a market-ready product.
Commercial launch followed in 2024 and 2025, as HEXAFRESH entered the European market through e-commerce and marketplace partnerships, delivered its first orders, and began collecting the customer feedback that continues to shape the product today.
By 2026, the Company had moved decisively from validating demand to scaling it: more than 1,170 units sold, distribution live in five countries, and a diversified network of marketplace and retail partners.
HEXAFRESH's story is, at its core, the story of a climate-technology company built by engineers who experienced the problem of inadequate cooling firsthand and who chose to solve it with a product designed specifically for the homes, budgets, and buildings of ordinary Europeans—rather than adapting a product designed for another market.
2022 — Establishing HEXAFRESH in France
In 2022, we relocated to France and officially incorporated HEXAFRESH SAS. We won 3rd Prize at the MIT Enterprise Forum Pan-Arab Startup Competition and secured our first investment of €100,000 at a €1 million valuation.
2023 — Launch of HEXA PRO V1
In 2023, we launched our first product, HEXA PRO V1, selling more than 200 units in less than one week through our website and Darty.
The company was also featured on RMC TV's Estelle Midi with Anthony Morel, validating strong market interest in our innovation.
2024 — Scaling Production
In 2024, we successfully launched a pre-order campaign, scaled production, and sold more than 600 units, confirming the growing demand for compact, energy-efficient cooling solutions.
2025 — Innovation and Investment
In 2025, we raised €150,000 at a €2 million valuation, developed the new HEXA PRO+, obtained our French patent, sold more than 300 units, and were featured on BFM Business, further strengthening our credibility within the French innovation ecosystem.
2026 — International Commercial Growth
In 2026, HEXAFRESH reached a new level of commercial growth. We manufactured and sold more than 1,200 units across France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Poland, and the United Kingdom, generating approximately €360,000 in revenue between January and July.
During the European heatwave, demand exceeded our production capacity, with more than 60 units sold in a single day before running out of stock.
We became a top-selling portable air conditioner on Amazon during March and April and a top-selling product on Boulanger in June.
Based on customer demand, we estimate that we could have sold more than 3,000 units during the season had sufficient inventory been available.
Building the Future of Sustainable Cooling
Today, HEXAFRESH is building much more than a portable air conditioner. Backed by a French patent, proven commercial traction, international distribution, and a five-year innovation roadmap including HEXA MAX, our ambition is to become a leading European climate-tech company delivering sustainable thermal-management solutions for a warming world.
